Can I set my V-Mail account up to work with Outlook?
Yes, Vmail is compatible with Outlook for most students.
- Open Outlook 2003, 2007, or Outlook Express.
- Click on Tools
- Select Accounts
- Set up a New Account
- The following is the information needed to set up your account:
- Your email address: (example: wxyz@myvbtc.org)
- Your User Name (same username as used in Student Center)
- Your Password (same password as used in Student Center)
- Type of Account: IMAP
- Incoming mail server: mail.myvbtc.org
- Outgoing mail server: mail.myvbtc.org
- After your account is created, you need to go back into the account settings and change the following items:
- Check the box that states My server requires authentication
- Check the box that states This server requires a secure connection. On Outlook Express select SSL, Outlook 2003 or 2007 select TLS or Auto.
7. You will still be unable to send outgoing mail until you set up a TLS/SSL cert. To obtain a VBTC cert., please visit submit a tech support ticket. Only those in the United States can obtain this cert. All others can still utilize V-Mail in Outlook by setting their ISP SMTP server as default.
